In December 2022, the OHW-NG Sustainability Working Group set off to Malaysia to conduct the OHUN Sustainability Planning Workshop. The workshop was organized by the SEAOHUN Secretariat in collaboration with the Malaysia One Health University Network (MyOHUN), while Matt Blake and Liz Leasure of UC Davis, and global consortium members Alexandra Zuber and Beth Edison, played key facilitator roles. The goal of the workshop was to support each OHUN in developing a plan for sustaining their organization after the end of the OHW-NG project. The four day series featured working sessions on business model research and analysis, funding stream market analysis, and revenue generation scheming.

By the end of the workshop, each OHUN developed a sustainability SWOT analysis, identified key beneficiaries and activities, refined their business plan, and developed a resource mobilization plan. The Sustainability Working Group is continuing to support the OHUNs in 2023 by hosting a virtual Community of Practice where the OHUNs present their resource mobilization plans to receive peer feedback and support. Overall, the Sustainability Planning Workshop was a major success, the result of which will play a key role in the trajectory of OHUN activities and sustainability.
